2008 Closing Summary |
After battling Mother Nature all season long, the 2008 Junior League at Timber Ridge Golf Course has come to a close. This season, many new and exciting things were added to the league to make it even more competitive and fun.
In partnership with local golf courses in the area, we held a Junior Ryder Cup event, which was filled with excitement. After four events, the Timber Ridge team was victorious and crowned the champions of the 2008 Junior Ryder Cup. I would like to congratulate our team and all the other teams for making the inaugural series such a success!
The league expanded to 16 weeks this season, but it wasn’t enough to break the season ending tie between Eric Indewey and Ian Arsenault. The final week, the League Championship (where points were doubled), was rained out, so we had an 18 hole playoff the next day to determine a winner. After the 18 holes, they were still tied, so it went into sudden death. Ian Arsenault (pictured below) managed to par the first extra hole to win the league. Congratulations, Ian!
|
We had our Closing Tournament on August 25th. The team of Eric Indewey, Ian Arsenault, Alex Monsma, and Adam Weedman managed to win the event with a 4-person scramble score of 57 (14 under par). I would also like to congratulate all juniors who played this year in the league. Everyone did a great job and we hope you had a lot of fun!

2008 Closing Summary |
The season has gone by so fast! This was the sixth edition of the ladies league and was the most successful season we’ve had to date. We had a record number of new members this season and a great turnout each week.
We would like to congratulate Linda Robertson on winning this year’s league. It came down to the final week as she managed to finish ahead of 2004 Ladies League champion Barb Philips and Diana Cieslik. Our ringer board winners were Michelle Whitney with the low gross score of 34 and Lynn VanderHerberg with a net score of 17. To end the 2008 season, we ended off with a 4-person scramble tournament, dinner, and awards from the season point totals. The team winning this year’s final tournament was Kathy Weese, Kathy Bryden, Gayle Frost, and Gayle MacAulay.
Next year’s ladies league will begin on Tuesday, May 5th with a 9-hole scramble tournament followed by a Meet and Greet. We will be having wine sampling and hors d’oeuvres following the golf. The first official league night will be held on Tuesday, May 12th with a complimentary “welcome back clinic” with Scott McInroy, one of our CPGA Professionals. Remember, for those of you who are returning next year, if you recruit a new league member for 2009, you will receive one complimentary green fee next year!
We would like to thank everyone who played in this year’s league. We hope you have a great winter and look forward to seeing each of you in the spring.

2008 Closing Comments |
The 2008 Men’s league has come to a close after a great season. This the sixth season of the Men’s League and we saw another increase in participation, growing to an all high ninety nine league members. With the increase in league members, we started the league at 1:30pm every Thursday for the first time. The more league members we get, the earlier we will start next season. Paul would also like to thank all of the league members who participated in the optional events including our well-known “Bring a guest night and the best ball match play competition.
Congratulations go out to Michael Foster who was the league champion this year. Michael played every week of the season which earned him the right to be called our Timber Ridge Men’s League champ for 2008. Michael was thrilled at the closing banquet this year and was very excited to be named champion.
We held our closing banquet and tournament on Thursday, September 11th. The format for the night was a four person scramble which saw some low scores. The winning team on the night was Chris Dobbie, Dan Dobosh, Adam Weedman and Doug Korfman.
We would like to thank TaylorMade and Tournament Sports for making donations for prizes throughout the season. We hope everyone has a great winter and we look forward to seeing everyone out for the 2009 Men’s League.
If you are interested in joining the Timber Ridge Men's League next season, please contact Paul either by phone or by email to get your name on a list for the 2009 season.
